Indulge in a delightful twist on a classic favorite - Croque Monsieur - featuring our award-winning Youngsters Goat Gouda. Savor the creamy richness of this tangy cheese perfectly melded with layers of savory ham and toasted bread, creating a mouthwatering symphony of flavor.
INGREDIENTS:
- 6 oz Artikaas Youngsters Goat Gouda, shredded
- Dijon mustard
- Ham
- Butter
- White bread or country style bread
For the béchamel sauce:
- 2 tablespoons Butter
- 2 tablespoons All-Purpose Flour
- 1 1/4 cups Milk, hot
- salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
- 1 cup of shredded Youngsters Goat Gouda
HOW TO MAKE IT:
- Spread Dijon mustard on both sides of the bread.
- Layer ham and a generous amount of shredded Youngsters Goat Gouda.
- Close sandwich and pan fry in a skillet with butter over medium heat.
- Flip when toasty brown and crispy.
- Prepare the béchamel sauce: In a pan, melt the butter and stir in the flour. Cook, stirring constantly, for 2 minutes until bubbly (do not let it burn). Slowly add the milk, stirring constantly, and bring to a boil. Add the shredded Youngsters Goat Gouda and season with salt & pepper to taste, then lower the heat and cook for a few more minutes.
- Place the sandwich on a baking sheet and pour béchamel on top.
- Bake for 3 minutes and then switch to broil for 3 minutes to brown the cheese.
- Remove, cut in half and and enjoy!
