  • Remove the thawed puff pastry sheet from the fridge. Gently roll out the sheet into a slightly larger rectangle. Then carefully cut away the sides to make the shape of a Christmas tree (if desired, you can use the scraps to cut out a star for the top).
  • Place the Christmas tree shaped puff pastry on the parchment lined baking sheet. Then spread the spinach filling evenly over top.
  • Repeat with the second puff pastry sheet and then place on top.
  • Cut 1 inch slits on both sides of the tree, leaving about an inch in the center intact.
  • Carefully twist each strip to form the tree branches.

  • In a small bowl, whisk an egg to use for egg wash (this is optional but helps the puff pastry brown).
  • Brush the top of the pastry with egg wash and sprinkle with flaky sea salt if desired.
  • Bake at 350°F for 20-30 minutes or until golden brown and the cheese is melted. Serve and enjoy!

Recipe Notes

Start with puff pastry that has been fully defrosted! The best way to defrost puff pastry is by placing it in the fridge overnight! Puff pastry is easiest to work with when it's still cold, but pliable, which is why refrigerating it overnight is the best!
